Here you will find all the practical information about the location, opening hours and accessibility of the Letterenhuis as well as how to reach us. 

We are currently not open for individual visits because of the remodeling of our ground flour. You can join a group tour or visit the reading room.

As of December 2023 until the re-opening of our ground flour in June 2024, visitors will be welcomed at the address above in the De Beukelaer House. That way nuisance because of the contruction work will be diminished. 

 

Reading room

You're welcome in our reading room by appointment from Tuesday to Thursday, from 9.30 am - 4.30 pm.

The reading room will be closed on following days:

  • Mondays, Fridays, in the weekend
  • Monday April 1st (Easter Monday)
  • Wednesday May 1st (Labour Day)
  • Thursday May 9th (Ascension Day)
  • Monday May 20th (Pentecost Monday)

 

Counter

In Letterenhuis you pay cashless - at the ticket counter, in the shop and for activities.
We accept Bancontact, Mastercard, Maestro, VISA and V Pay. 

 

Getting there

The Letterenhuis is in the centre of Antwerp. You can reach it easily by public transportation and on foot or by bike.

On foot/by bike

You find the Letterenhuis in Minderbroedersstraat, a side street of Minderbroedersrui. Until June 2024 the entrance is located at Minderbroedersrui 17.
Leave your bike in one of the bicycle racks at the corner of Minderbroedersstraat and Minderbroedersrui.

 

With a Velo-bicycle (share-a-bike system)

You find a Velo-station at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Blindestraat) and on Minderbroedersrui in front of number 44-46.

By public transport

Use the routeplanner of de Lijn to plan your trip by train, bus, premetro or tram.
The stops KlapdorpKeizerstraat and Sint-Katelijne are close to Letterenhuis.

Or take DeWaterbus over the river Scheldt. The stop at Steenplein is at 750 meters from the Letterenhuis.

By car

  • Follow signs for ‘Antwerpen-Centrum Zuid’
  • Then follow signs for ‘P-Groenplaats’
  • Paid parking garages nearby are Parking Groenplaats and Parking Scheldekaai Noord (Jordaenskaai).

BEWARE: 

You are not allowed to park on the streets in the historical city centre. In this area only residents with a parking permit and certain permit holders (healthcare providers, business owners and car sharers) can park on the street. The zone extends from Brouwersvliet and Ankerrui in the north, the Leien in the east, Scheldestraat, Kronenburgstraat and Kasteelpleinstraat in the south, and the river Scheldt in the west. Antwerp and Linkeroever (the Left Bank) are a low emission zone. Polluting vehicles may no longer enter the city. Check before coming to Antwerp whether your vehicle complies with the conditions for entry on visit.antwerpen.be/en/info/low-emission-zone.

 

Accessibility for wheel-chair users

The frontdesk employees will assist wheelchair users to access the Letterenhuis.
The public areas of the building are accessible; the public lifts have not been adapted. If required, you can ask the employees for assistance. There is a specially adapted toilet.
